Depression happens to all of us. One day you're fine, and the next day you don't even want to wake up in the morning as you lay there disgusted with yourself and unmotivated to do pretty much anything. You end up fixating on something you could have done differently, or wallowing in guilt, or regret. You're in your head. It sucks.

Well, one solution is to get in your body. Depression is very much a chemical process inside of you. There may be outside triggers that have caused you to be depressed but that doesn’t mean you have to feel that way on a perpetual basis. Before we even get to the part of dealing with our underlying problems, we have to first get ourselves into a different state. You may not be able to completely go from negative to positive, but at least you can bring yourself to a level of neutrality. This will get your mind off of self-destructive thoughts and allow you to think more clearly so that you can attack your problems head on.
One of the first things you can do is to empower your body through intense physical exercise. I’m not talking about going for a leisurely jog on a treadmill. I’m talking about high intensity training, where your heart feels like it’s going to burst out of your chest, where lungs feel like they are bleeding, where you feel like you are going to die in the process. After all, if you’re feeling suicidal, what difference does it make if you feel pain? You see, this process of taking your body to its utmost extremes will pull you away from the no-man’s land of your mind, and pull you back into your body. You’re going to feel “alive” again, and not in some drunken depressive daze that you were in before. It will make you more present. In addition, your brain will send endorphins into your bloodstream to make you feel very serene and at peace once this intense session is over. You will also feel empowered. If you were feeling weak and helpless before, this intense workout will test your nerve and send a message to your ego, that you are a hell of a lot stronger than you thought.
The next thing you want to do is to masturbate. That’s right. You read that correctly. Jerk off. But don’t wack off for 2 minutes and ejaculate that quickly. No no no. Do this for a while. Try to hold off orgasm as long as you are able. At least 20 minutes but an hour if you can. This will put you into an extended state of pleasure. While you’re looking at whatever it is you are looking at to keep you aroused, you won’t be thinking about your problems anymore. Then when you finally bust a nut, just sit there for a minute or so and let that serenity glide over you. Don’t feel guilt. There’s nothing wrong with pleasuring yourself. What you feel is freedom, freedom over your own body. Now go wash up before your dick gets stuck to your leg (not a very pleasant experience). Make sure to take a warm to hot shower, or bath if you prefer. This will put you into a very relaxed state.
After the shower, do some deep stretching and breathing. This will further release tension and allow you to meditate more effectively in the next step. Do this for about 10-15 minutes.
Now you are ready to meditate. Take a seat on a chair or sit with your legs crossed on the floor with a pillow underneath your tailbone to keep you upright. Place your hands on your knees. Put a slight arch in your lower back so that your back makes a slight “S” shape. I prefer to listen to nature sounds or binaural beats when I meditate as it blocks out external noise and distraction. Now while in this relaxed state, focus on your breathing. Feel your heartbeat. Don’t think about anything. It’s not a big deal if thoughts go flying in and out of your head. This is normal. Envision that your mind is this cluttered room, and that you are pushing all this clutter of it as you meditate. All that is left is a dark void. This is what you want. You want nothingness. You want to be clear of any thought. Now you are in a state of emptiness. This is your subconscious mind. This subconscious mind is the thing that drives your conscious mind and day to day activities. By clearing it out and essentially rebooting your computer, you will be much clearer, much faster, that haziness that clouded your vision before will be lifted. You are free from distraction. When you get to this state of emptiness, you can stay there for as long as you want, or slowly exit out of your meditation and back into consciousness. Your mind is now clear, and you likely are in a much better state to tackle your problems.
The next step is to write out all of your problems and underlying causes that you can think of and start brainstorming solutions. This is the most important part. It is at this moment that you are most primed to be work on yourself and find creative solutions to transforming your life. This is the time to revisit your dreams that have been deferred for whatever reason. It’s the time to find the root causes for why you get plagued with guilt. You can create plans of action. This is the time to think critically and organize your thoughts. This is where you get your control back.
Finally, take action and do one thing from the plans of action you created in your previous step. This will prime your mind and body to work in unison take action towards your progress. This puts you in a state of action. This builds MOMENTUM. This COMMITS you. This builds your INTEGRITY. This is what is going to PULL you out of your hole and up into the heavens my friend.
What I have just provided you is a ritual for pulling yourself out of a depressive state of mind and becoming a man of action. Good luck my friends!
